Attractions in the state of New York

New York is one of the most exciting states in the United States. There are many scenic attractions to admire on a tour of the state. It is also worth taking a look at the neighboring states of Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut and Pennsylvania. There are also many interesting things to see in the cities of the state. First and foremost, of course, is New York City.

New York City

The metropolis is located on the Hudson River and is also known around the world for its landmark, the Statue of Liberty. Around half of New York's residents live in New York City. There are numerous museums, opera houses and of course the Empire State Building. New York City is the largest city in the state of New York.

Buffalo and Albany

Buffalo is located directly on Lake Erie. From here you have a fantastic view of Canada. The famous Niagara Falls are not far from here. Another interesting city is the state capital. Here in Albany are numerous cathedrals, churches and the New York State Capitol. The city is on the border with Vermont and offers a wonderful change from the hustle and bustle of New York City.

long Island

Long Island, located in the Atlantic, is as big as Mallorca. Long Island is known worldwide for its dream beaches. Almost half of the island belongs to New York City. The biggest economic factor here is fishing.

Niagara Falls and the Indian Summer

Across from Canada is the city of the same name, Niagara Falls. It was named after the world famous Niagara Falls. Anyone visiting the state should definitely come here. Many tours to Canada start from here. Most tours take place here in the Indian Summer. This is a time in late autumn when the leaves of the trees shine particularly brightly. This spectacle can be seen right up to the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains.

Atlantic City

There are not only a lot of casinos here, but also a number of museums such as the Cape May Lighthouse or the Bird Observatory. The historic wine-growing regions are also particularly worth seeing. You should take a lot of time to visit the city.

Cold Spring

This is already an insider tip. This city is absolutely atypical for New York. Time seems to stand still here because there is no hectic pace and no streets crowded with cars. There are many historic houses, antique shops, bars and restaurants. Cars from the 1950s and 1960s still drive here. There is live music everywhere and it's a great atmosphere.

The sights of New York (State) are so diverse that you should take a little more time for the trip. It is a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the daily life and past of the United States. In terms of landscape, the state offers a lot of highlights and the leisure activities here are very diverse. The best time to travel is spring, summer and late autumn, the so-called Indian Summer.

History of New York

New York (state) was the eleventh state of 13 states to join the Union in 1788. Most of the Indians living in the state have been displaced. Many went to Oklahoma, Wisconsin and Canada. Some of them stayed in the state. A large part of the Iroquois still lives in the state of New York today.

In 1621 the Dutch founded Nieuw Nederland. In 1664 the area passed to the English. These divided the area into New Jersey and New York. In 1685, New York became a crown colony. A hundred years later, New York became the 11th member state of the United States. Around a third of the wars of the War of Independence took place in New York. In 1789, New York City became the first capital of the United States.
